Winter 2020 Food Service Update
Fraser Families,
I wanted to remind everyone that breakfast and lunch are FREE for all students for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. This includes all in-person learning/on-site meals as well as meals being provided for virtual learners via curbside pickup.
We encourage everyone to participate. Many families have expressed concern about it taking away from children that are truly in need, but there is enough funding to cover all meals and we will have enough food available. You are still welcome to send your child with a lunch from home if you would prefer.
Virtual learners can pickup meals curbside at the Fraser High School cafeteria (Klein Roadside) on weekdays from 7 am – 12 pm.
Every Friday we provide weekend meals for all students but these are only offered at the High School.
Meals at the Dooley Center, elementary schools, and Richards Middle School are only for students that are attending face-to-face instruction at that specific location. This Thursday (December 10th) is a half-day for DK-6 students and we will be providing a bagged lunch for students to take home at dismissal.
At this time, parents are not expected to pre-order their meals and Meal Order Forms are not required to receive a breakfast and/or lunch at the elementary schools. Elementary lunches will consist of a hot entrée (including a bread or grain item) with fruit, vegetable, and milk. For safety reasons, there will no longer be a fruit & vegetable bar or self-service station and all students will be offered the same fruit and vegetable choice each day. In addition to the hot entrée, students can select a soy butter and jelly sandwich instead as their main component. These are the only two entrée options for lunch. We do have the full menu available on our website.Parents are still asked to complete a Free & Reduced Meal Application, as this information is used for district funding, but it will not determine whether a child qualifies for free meals for this school year.
Thank you,
Kristin Ledford
